HOW TO BECOME A NATIONAL UMPIRE
Under the National Officiating Accreditation Scheme (NOAS); you have to:
Complete the ‘Officials Accreditation Application’ form available on the Bowls NSW & Zone 12 web sites.
Complete payment details as listed. Read & sign the ‘Officials Code of Behaviour’. Submit the Application with the payment details and the Code of Behaviour to the Zone 12 Umpires Committee. (Retain all other forms downloaded)

Payment can be made by cheque made payable to "Royal NSW Bowling Association”, Credit card by completing the payment details in the application or by electronic transfer to Bowls NSW (check the payment information on their web site). Please include a copy of the receipt details for electronic transfers with your application. Cash is not acceptable. Your payment & details along with a copy of your application will be forwarded, by the Secretary, to Bowls NSW. The Umpires Secretary will arrange to issue an Officiating Manual to you.
You can choose to become a Marker and/or a Measurer or an Umpire. The cost is $22.00 for Marker or Measurer. To do both, the cost is $44.00 and there is no further cost should you choose to become an umpire. The umpire will complete all modules in the manual. You will receive the manual well in advance of the assessment process.
Each module is approximately 4 hours duration and can be completed a variety of ways. The assessment is competency based so you are classed as competent in all areas. If you are not yet competent is some areas, you will be re-assessed on the area/s that is not yet competent only.
Your successful assessment results sheet will be sent to the State Umpires for processing when you complete all competencies.

It is essential that you have your own current copy of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls.
NOTE: If you are prepared to put in the time a pass is not beyond anyone. Why not get a few candidates and have a course at your club?

ZONE 12 RE-ACCREDITATION COURSES
Re-accreditation is every 4 years & sessions will be conducted throughout each year. Every effort will be made to advise the dates and times to you well in advance of your due date. Information may also be included in the assessors report in the minutes of the umpires’ panel meetings. Umpires who supply their email address and clubs with an email address are sent a copy of the minutes. Clubs are asked to make the minutes available to their umpires.
Re-accreditation is $11.00 to the candidate and you receive the $25.00 manual in that price. Payment is the same as in Accreditation above. You will need to complete a re-accreditation application and have your club complete the recognition of performance section.
Each Umpire is responsible to ensure that they are up to date. Once accreditation is out of date it is lost and the full course must be completed to regain accreditation.
Please contact the Secretary or Chairman if you are due for re-accreditation and have not been contacted with a date and time or if you do not intend to continue as an Umpire.
